My Backyard Telephone Pole
My buddy Pat Scott drove in from St. Louis with a pole and crossarms for me, and some insulators and other stuff for Pat Barkwell, another collector that lives nearby. We had a great time talking insulators, and getting my new pole installed. Check out the photos below.

Here's Pat Scott's trailer with my pole, just to the left of the long glass suspension string. We took 4 of the crossarms shown here for my pole, and Pat B. took the others. Pat Barkwell shared some of those magnificent glass bells with me. Thanks, Pat!
Pat Scott (left) is digging the hole for my new pole as Pat Barkwell looks on. I'm taking photos, and it looks like Pat Scott is the only one working! :-D
Here's a photo taken by Jolene of three guys hugging a pole. Actually, we're trying hard to make it look like the flag-raising on Iwo Jima. This will be available soon as a bronze sculpture from Franklin Mint.....
I'm tamping the soil around the pole as Pat and Pat hold it steady. Even without using a level, we managed to get this thing pretty straight.
The first of four crossarms goes up! Pat is attaching it to a lag bolt going through the pole.
All four arms are now on the pole as Pat does a little reconstructive surgery on the crossarm.
It's time to decorate the new pole with glass! Here's something you don't see very often - Pat putting insulators ON a pole instead of taking them off!
It's looking pretty good with a full compliment of insulators mounted on the crossarms. Pat's hat is not part of the permanent display!
I handed the camera up to Pat so he could get a few photos on the pole. Here's an "insulator's eye" view from the third crossarm up.
Here's a shot of the transposition bracket with four nice beehives sparkling in the sun.
I got a neat shot of Pat playing "pole monkey."
And here it is - the finished product! Looks good! I'll eventually run an underground conduit out to the pole so I can mount a light on it. I'll probably put a wireless security camera on top of it at some point.
